Beginning December 11, chef John Tesar's finest culinary offerings take center stage at formal, 20-seat Chef's Room
DALLAS - Once the library for a cotton mogul, the Chef's Room restaurant at Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek is now a culinary stage for chef John Tesar. Here, Tesar offers his most creative and luxurious dinner presentations. The 20-seat dinner-only restaurant makes its introduction on Tuesday, December 11.
The Chef's Room is the newest restaurant addition to Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek, which now offers guests multiple dining options. The Chef's Room is designed to complement the Mansion Restaurant, which made its debut in early November. The Mansion Restaurant touts a vibrant, more contemporary feel and a la carte menus, while the Chef's Room offers a more traditional fine-dining experience with prix-fixe and tasting menus.
"The Chef's Room is my dream realized," said John Tesar, executive chef for Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek. "I have a refined and historic platform, where I can prepare elegant menus that are equally focused on seasonality, creativity and adventure. It is a complete formal dining experience fashioned after the finest European Michelin-rated restaurants."
The Chef's Room experience begins in the adjacent salon, an inviting and elegantly appointed living room. In the salon, beverages are served with complimentary canapés, and guests meet their dining captain, from whom they learn the night's menu selections.
A three-course prix-fixe menu for $89 is the foundation from which guests can choose from a variety of menu items, such as the seared diver scallop and grilled half-moon bay squid stuffed with oxtail or a filet mignon charred with grape vine embers, flash seared Kobe and duchess potatoes. Additionally, guests may select from four, six and eight-course tasting menus that change daily. Root vegetable consommé and gold leaf spinach soufflé are featured courses on the seven-course vegetarian tasting menu.
The oak-paneled Chef's Room features elegant steel grey settees, an accent wall of luxurious persimmon-colored brushed velvet and artwork by local artist David Bates. An elaborate plaster ceiling, signature stained glass windows and wooden mantel carved by Swiss woodcarver Peter Mansbendel play to The Mansion's historic charm. Only the finest accoutrements adorn the tables, such as Revolta Italian linen of double twisted Egyptian cotton, Raynaud china, Riedel Sommelier Series glassware, and Ercuis silverware.
"The Chef's Room dining experience marries tradition with modern cooking and the most polished service," said Tesar. "In this room The Mansion legend lives on, but the story begins a new chapter."
Starting December 11, the Chef's Room is open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Reservations can be made by calling 214.443.4747. More information is available at mansiononturtlecreek.com.
Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek retains the intimate ambience and charm of the private residence it once was. Originally built by a cotton magnate in 1925, the 16th-century Italian Renaissance-style estate was transformed 55 years later into a world-class restaurant and hotel with 143 elegantly furnished rooms and suites. Since its inception, the Mansion has consistently ranked as the only five-star, five-diamond hotel in Texas. In 2007, Rosewood announced a $20-million hotel and restaurant redesign project beginning with the Mansion's storied restaurant and bar. The innovative project adds modern design elements while paying tribute to signature historic and architectural details. It results in three distinct venues, including the contemporary and elegant restaurant, a 20-seat formal Chef's Room and the comfortable, stylish bar, which all feature the acclaimed contemporary American cuisine of executive chef John Tesar. A second phase of the renovation follows in early 2008 and includes all guestrooms, suites and public areas.
